A Brief Guide Of Qeshm Free Area Qeshm Island is one of the largest islands of the Straight of Hormoz, in the Persian Gulf, with a unique geological and natural Status. With an area of 1445 KM2, circumference of approximately 362 km, and a length of 122, Qeshm island is located along Iranian main land. From geobotanical point of view it is based along the stripe of northern hemisphere tropical plantation. This strip in Iran begins from Hormozgan to Sea of Oman and from Ghasre-Shirin to Guatre harbor. The Qeshm city is within a distance of 22 KM from Bandar Abbas. The northern coast of the island is covered with mangrove forests are dispersed in Iran in northern coasts of the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman from Kangan bay, Sirik to Khamir bay, Qeshm Island, Minab and Laft in Hormozgan province and Jask gulf of Chahbahar and Guatre gulf in Baluchestan province. However, the largest concentration is in the northern coasts of the Qeshm Island. The Qeshm Free Zone (QFZ) authority was established in 1990 as one of the three free trade and industrial Zones, in the Islamic Republic of Iran. At present 300 Sq. Km of the Qeshm island is Allocated to the QFZ and the rest of the island is considered as especial economic zone, excluding areas in the island used for strategic military purposes. |

Every passenger in the Qeshm Free Zone is allowed, in addition to their personal effect, to carry goods worth a maximum of US $80 Inside the country as exempt from customs duties.
Travellers requesting green card must enter the island of the Bahman dock by a licensed ship or boat from Shahid Bahonar dock in Bandar Abbas.
Upon arriving at the Bahman dock in Qeshm and having their travel tickets sealed by the guard officers, the travellers will be permitied to receive green cards. Means of transportation are available at the site.
The travallers movement ( Tarradod) office in Qeshm will issuse green cards to all persons who can present an identity card or a driver’s license with\without photo attached to prove their identity. ( it will take about five minutes to get a green card from the time an identity card is presented).
A traveller can receive one green card per year to benefit from up to US$ 80 exemptions from all duties.
